February 2020

Here it is – our second issue of the year. Globally, so much has already happened in 2020, so it feels like the start of a new year was a long time ago. But no, we’re just two months in.

For this month’s issue we’re delighted to welcome one of our featured guests from January 2020, Fitzgerald Mujuru, as a contributor to HoM. He has written a great piece to keep us all encouraged to make this the year we launch our dreams and walk into our purpose. It’s super exciting because this is exactly what we at HoM want to do – extend our collaborations with like-minded individuals; it doesn’t have to be limited to those that appear in the pages here, but anyone out there who lives by an ethos of inspiration, action and changing the narrative. Get in touch with any of us if that’s you. You will find our
email addresses at the start of each article or you can contact us via our social media platforms.

I am in awe of each and every feature in the February issue. Check out our cover boy – John Pfumojena interviewed by Simba Harawa. He’s an award-winning thespian who also does his thing behind the scenes in theatre and in music. John says it’s not easy,
but he makes it look so easy! Then there’s Plot Mhako who is so dedicated to advancing dance in and for Zimbabwe and the rest of Africa.

One great thing about all our features is really how they defy convention to achieve not just for themselves but for their communities. There’s Mikey Chindiya a young financier climbing to the top in a country that essentially has no economy whilst motivating
others to get super-fit. Then we have Yanela Ntlauzana who is bringing autism to the top of the agenda on the continent. I interviewed my long-time acquaintance (!) Eugene Ulman, photographer and film-maker, who captures the essence, textures and colours of Harare with his camera; his images dare you to believe in the beauty of our city again.

We do hope you enjoy getting to know some of our brightest and finest. And…if you’re inspired, do take up our offer to collaborate.
